RUBÉN ALBARRÁN DESVELA UN NUEVO ANUNCIO DE PETA EN LOS ÁNGELES

Vocalista de Café Tacvba al frente de la ‘Revolución Vegetariana’

Los Ángeles – Ha sido una semana ocupada para Rubén Albarrán, cantante de la legendaria banda mexicana de rock, Café Tacvba: el grupo no solo iniciará su tour por los Estados Unidos el 29 de agosto, sino que Albarrán es también el protagonista de un nuevo anuncio de PETA Latino que se acaba de levantar en Sunset Boulevard, en Los Ángeles. Y hoy apareció en persona en el edificio Bob Barker de PETA, para descubrir el nuevo anuncio, que lo muestra agarrando una lata de pintura en aerosol junto a las palabras: “Revolución Vegetariana”. En una entrevista exclusiva para PETA Latino, Albarrán explica qué lo inspiró en primer lugar a hacerse vegetariano hace 25 años: “Mi impulso vino por un documental sobre rastros, que es como llaman a los mataderos en México”, dice. “Y en este documental, puedes ver la crueldad que sufren los animales y la forma en que los matan y cómo los dejan desangrarse. Y desde ese momento, decidí dejar de comerlos. Los animales son nuestros hermanos, y no podemos seguir usándolos y causándoles dolor”.

Además del masivo sufrimiento animal causado por la industria de la carne, los productos animales han sido vinculados a algunas de las enfermedades más mortales en la comunidad latina: cardiopatías, derrames cerebrales, diabetes y cáncer. Para estimular a más Latinos a probar una dieta basada en plantas, Albarrán entregó copias autografiadas de su anuncio, que incluyó consejos fáciles para hacerse vegano.

Albarrán se une a una larga lista de celebridades, incluyendo a Rodrigo y Gabriela, Joaquin Phoenix, Joan Jett, Geezer Butler, Marco Antonio Regil y Constance Marie, que se unieron a PETA y a PETA Latino para promover comidas sanas, humanas y sin carne.

RUBÉN ALBARRÁN UNVEILS NEW PETA BILLBOARD IN LOS ANGELES
Café Tacvba Frontman Leads the ‘Revolución Vegetariana’

Los Angeles — It’s been a busy week for Rubén Albarrán, lead singer of the legendary Mexican rock band Café Tacvba: Not only did the group just kick off their U.S. tour on August 29, Albarrán is also the star of a brand-new PETA Latino billboard that just went up on Sunset Boulevard. And today, he appeared in person at PETA’s Bob Barker Building to unveil the new ad, which shows him clutching a can of spray paint next to the words “Revolución Vegetariana.” The new campaign is available here, and photos from today’s event are available here.

In an exclusive interview with PETA Latino, Albarrán explains what first inspired him to go vegetarian 25 years ago: “My impulse came from a documentary about rastros, which is what they call slaughterhouses in Mexico,” he says. “And in this documentary, you could see the cruelty that the animals suffered and the way in which they kill them and how they leave them to bleed out. And from that moment on, I decided to stop eating them. Animals are our brothers, and we can’t keep using them and causing them pain.”

In addition to the massive animal suffering caused by the meat industry, animal products have been linked to some of the Latino community’s biggest killers: heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and cancer. To encourage more Latinos to try a plant-based diet, Albarrán handed out signed copies of his ad, which included easy tips for going vegan.

Albarrán joins a long list of celebrities—including Rodrigo y Gabriela, Joaquin Phoenix, Joan Jett, Geezer Butler, Marco Antonio Regil, and Constance Marie—who have teamed up with PETA and PETA Latino to promote healthy and humane meat-free meals.
