El sábado, tres miembros del grupo Vegan Strike Group –una organización por los derechos de los animales- saltaron dentro de un ruedo después de la primera corrida de la Feria de Dax en Francia. Exhibiendo mensajes anti-taurinos que llevaban pintados en el cuerpo, los activistas saltaron, cerca de 10 pies de alto, dentro del ruedo para denunciar la sangrienta matanza.

Una vez dentro, los tres miembros gritaron mensajes dirigidos a Emmanuel Macron, el presidente de Francia, entre ellos “¿Es esto nuestra tradición?” “Nuestras tradiciones no son sanguinarias”, y “No confundamos barbarismo con tradición”.

Uno de los activistas, que llevaba las palabras “Las Corridas son la vergüenza de Francia”, pintadas sobre su pecho, puede ser visto siendo aventado al suelo y pateado una y otra vez, presuntamente por un organizador del evento. Los activistas fueron detenidos pero han sido liberados.
Corridas de toros: Una tradición de tragedias
PETA aplaude las valientes acciones de los activistas por intentar detener la sanguinaria tortura de toros.
Cada año miles de toros son asesinados salvajemente en ruedos alrededor del mundo. A través de los siglos, los toreros han encontrado sinfín de maneras de manipular la corrida a su favor. Los toros son debilitados con drogas o los cargan con costales de arena sobre el lomo. Sus cuernos son lijados para quitarles el equilibrio o se les embadurna vaselina en los ojos para incapacitar su visión.

La oposición a las corridas de toros está en ascenso, pero aún hay mucho por hacer. Si planeas visitar un país que permite este sangriento deporte, por favor déjalo fuera de tu itinerario.
